The Italian American beauty, Robin Arcuri, has not just built her career on her looks, her body and her glamour shoots with various magazines, Robin has also garnered a reputation for being in front of the movie camera too.

Living in Huntington Beach, California, Robin was well positioned to make a bid for the big time as a teenager when she when she was placed runner-up in the Miss Teen California Pageant. After that the sky was the limit for the natural beauty as she became and overnight sensation posing for, among others, Maybelline, Emanuel Ungaro, Teen, Vogue, Glamour, Orange Coast, Muscle & Fitness, Shape, Business Week, Cover Models, and Cosmopolitan.

But Robin’s name is probably best known in Playboy model circles where she has made several appearances, not only inside the glossy pages of Hugh Hefner’s magazine Playboy but as a Playboy model on the cover of his Voluptuous Vixens III magazine in 1999.

With her athletic frame and sultry looks Robin has become a much sought after Playboy model for collector’s of the famous men’s magazine.

Most women would be mortified to hold the title, ‘the oldest’ of anything but when the title also includes the words Playboy model, somehow the whole tone of the phrase is suddenly altered.

That’s the title held by Kathy Shower, the Playboy model born in 1953 and still being sought after as a Playboy magazine collector’s favourite.

In May 1985 Kathy was named Playboy’s Playmate of the Month by Hugh Hefner and in 1986 that title expanded to Playboy’s Playmate of the Year.

At the time of receiving both accolades Kathy was already a mother of two children aged 6 and 9 years and took the title from Sharon Clarke who was Playboy’s Playmate of the Year for 1971.

Kathy, along with the new ‘oldest Playboy model’ title, Rebecca Ramos is among only a very few beauties who have held the title in their thirties. Rebecca was 35 at the time of her centerfold appearance in January 2003 and remains the oldest Playmate of the Month so far.

Life after Playboy modeling lead Kathy to an acting career which saw her appearing in action adventure movies including, American Kickboxer 2, The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck & erotic thriller genres Boundaries, LA Goddess and Velvet Dreams. Shower also made numerous appearances within mainstream TV, guest starring in episodes of Knight Rider, Simon & Simon and a continuing role in Santa Barbara. She has since retired from acting and has lived in Spain for more than a decade.

 Even with a massive resume of movie appearances under her belt, Joan Collins is probably best remembered for her roles as the bitch in American TV series Dynasty, in which she played the ex wife of Blake Carrington, Alexis Carrington.But years before her big hair and stiff shoulder padded diva days on Dynasty, Joan found success after attending London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art for 18 months after which she made her film debut in 1951 as a beauty pageant contestant in Lady Godiva Rides Again. She followed this in 1955 as a femme fatale in the epic of ancient Egypt Land of the Pharaohs.

But it was her role in Dynasty between 1981 and 1989 that garnered her worldwide recognition and the attention of Hugh Hefner who utilized Joan’s beauty as she reached 50 years of age and featured her on the cover of his December 1953 Playboy magazine as his ‘50 Is Beautiful’ Playboy model.

Joan has remained predominant in the public eye since those heady days of fights and loves in the Dynasty household and continued to be a role model for women everywhere interested in maintaining beauty as they age by making statements such as, ‘the problem with beauty is that it’s like being born rich and getting poorer and the secret of having a personal life is not answering too many questions about it.

Mention Fallon Carrington-Colby and one immediately remembers the spoilt little heiress to the Carrington dynasty in the soap opera of the same name, Dynasty!

But long before Pamela Sue Martin landed the role of the conniving, sex fiend, vixen-esqu daughter of Black Carrington, played by John Forsythe, she was a successful actress appearing in several 1970’s movies such as The Poseidon Adventure and Buster and Billie, the teenage sleuth Nancy Drew and The Lady in Red.

But the pretty red-haired actress was also a professional model since her high school days and didn’t begin appearing in theatrical films until 1971.

It was her modeling skills accompanied by her role as Nancy Drew that caught the eye of Hugh Hefner who promptly commandeered Pamela Sue to appear on the cover of his July 1978 issue of Playboy magazine and with a nude pictorial on the inside pages.

Decked out in a somewhat ‘flasher’ style rain coat on the cover holding a spyglass in one hand, Pamela Sue was quick to disguard both her coat and her sweet Nancy Drew image on the pages within!

Mention ‘9 ½’ Weeks’ in any connotation and what springs to mind is a hot and bothered Kim Basinger getting it on with an equally hot and sweaty Mickey Rourke in the 1986 movie of the same name.

But that’s not all Kim is known for.

Even prior to her appearance in one of the all time steamiest movies 9 ½ Weeks, Kim had been a Bond Girl in the 1983 007 movie, Never Say Never Again, where she starred with Sean Connery and another Playboy model Barbara Carrera. The movie saw her as the only Bond Girl to receive an Oscar, and as such attracted the attention of Playboy entrepreneur Hugh Hefner who created a new Playboy model by the name of Kim Basinger.

Not only did Kim pose naked for Playboy but she was also the only celebrity to do so as an Oscar winner!

With her much publicized marital issues with actor Alec Baldwin, the 55 year old Kim’s other achievements are often overlooked. A model, actress, mother and an active environmentalist, in 1989 she purchased a small village not far from her home town of Athens, Georgia, and by doing so attempted to pump up the local economy.

But more controversy was to follow Basinger after a verbal agreement to appear in the film Boxing Helena was declared legal and binding she was ordered by a judge to pay $8,000,000 in damages to the film’s producers after she pulled out of her contract.

But Kim wasn’t about to disappear from the movie business and she went on to surprise everyone with a monumental comeback in her role as a prostitute in L.A. Confidential, which again saw her winning both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
